As I think I've mentioned before, Tuesday nights are the Sink family nights at Famous Anthony's. Usually Johnny and Randy have to work late and are unable to come, but a couple of weeks ago, the gang was all there! Even Randy's little cousin Josh! Kathryn started off the night being very awake, but then, Uncle Randy worked his magic and put her right to sleep! After dinner, Josh came over to meet Tiki!! As you can see they were both really excited and had a great time!

We are Virginia Tech

The events at Virginia Tech on Monday have touched everyone, especially those who have family or friends on campus. Randy and I consider ourselves very lucky to have only a few friends left on the campus. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured, those who have lost their lives and all those who have been touched, in any way, by this tragedy. Below is the poem that Nikki Giovanni read at the Convocation on Tuesday afternoon.
We are Virginia Tech.
We are sad today, and we will be sad for quite a while. We are not moving on, we are embracing our mourning.
We are Virginia Tech.
We are strong enough to stand tall tearlessly, we are brave enough to bend to cry, and we are sad enough to know that we must laugh again.
We are Virginia Tech.
We do not understand this tragedy. We know we did nothing to deserve it, but neither does a child in Africa dying of AIDS, neither do the invisible children walking the night away to avoid being captured by the rogue army, neither does the baby elephant watching his community being devestated for ivory, neither does the Mexican child looking for fresh water, neither does the Appalachian infant killed in the middle of the night in his crib in the home his father built with his own hands being run over by a boulder because the land was destabilized. No one deserves a tragedy.
We are Virginia Tech.
The Hokie Nation embraces our own and reaches out with open heart and hands to those who offer their hearts and minds. We are strong, and brave, and innocent, and unafraid. We are better than we think and not quite what we want to be. We are alive to the imaginations and the possibilities. We will continue to invent the future through our blood and tears and through all our sadness.
We are the Hokies.
We will prevail.
We will prevail.
We will prevail.
We are Virginia Tech.
Happy Birthday Devon!

Yesterday was Devon's 24 birthday! Devon is one of our closest friends and it was great to be able to see him on his birthday! Randy and I took Devon out to Shakers for his celebration. Our waitress was clearly very taken with both of the guys. Once she found out that Randy was married, however, all of her attention turned to Devon. Within minutes of us sitting down, she had already stated that she would "have to get his number or leave hers." Once we finally got our dinner, we were all enjoying our food and conversation, only to be interupted constantly by our waitress. When we were almost finished, she came in for the kill. She asked Devon how old he was and where he went to school. He told her he was 21 (yes a lie, he turned 24 yesterday, but he was desparate to get rid of her) and that he went to Tech, which then caused her to start her line of questioning about Monday's events. She asked his major, to which he replied Psychology (once again a lie, he's getting his Masters in Engineering, but seriously at this point he was about ready to explode). She finally left with our dishes, only to come back and take a single fork off of our table. Within minutes of leaving with the lone fork, she returned to take my napkin. When Randy got the bill, he signed and we got out of there as quickly as possible. We love Shakers, but we had the absolute worst service ever. What a weird dinner!! It was a great time to talk and be with Devon, especially since he was on campus on Monday. We are so thankful for his friendship and safety. We love you Dev!!!

Maw Maw and Yoo Hoo's
After church, the entire family met at Maw Maw and Yoo Hoo's for lunch! Here are the pictures from that! We also did a little game. The "Easter Bunny" filled up some Easter Eggs and everyone got to pick one! Some of them had candy in them and some had money or other little things. The best eggs went to Kim who got a necklace, Baby Spears who got a Three Little Pigs gift card and Tim who got a Mill Mountain gift card!! Thank you "Easter Bunny"!!!!

Tiki's Surgery Results
Tiki had surgery on his hernias on Thursday and we picked him up from the vet last night. He has 2 pretty nasty scars, but he is as hyper as ever and doesn't seem to be in any pain. He is however, trying to lick at the scars, so Randy had to take him back to the vet this morning to get a cone for when he's in the crate. He looks so funny!!! Hopefully he'll heal quickly so we can get back to our normal hyper Tiki days and not have to worry about him tearing his stitches out!!
Easter Weekend begins Friday with....GUITAR HERO!!!!!!!!
That's right, what Easter weekend would be complete without some Guitar Hero!! Friday night my cousins Matt and Loren and Matt's girlfriend (and my best friend) Kim came over to visit and of course, play some Guitar Hero! Before we knew it, Matt was becoming a pro!! My brother Luke and his friend Kaitlyn came over shortly after and everyone was playing and it was a great time! Luke and Matt were competing and everyone finally had enough when Luke beat Matt, after about 3 tries!! It was a great start to Easter weekend and I can't wait for the rest!!!
Salem Avalanche
Randy and I went to the Salem Avalanche game on Thursday night with our friends, Brandon and Kara. Brandon's Suntrust branch all went as well! It was FREEZING cold outside, and I couldn't tell you what the score was, but we had such a good time! After the game we went to Dunkin Donuts (since Krispy Kreme was closed!!)!! YUM!!

Baby on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all, no not me! My cousin Andrea and her husband Shawn are expecting their first child sometime mid-November! I am super excited and can't wait to start shopping for the new Dooley family addition! This will be the first great-grandchild in our family, and I have no doubt he/she will be spoiled rotten, at least if my mom and I have anything to do with it! Congratulations Shawn and Andrea!! We are so so happy for both of you and can't wait for all the excitement to come! Randy and I are already offering our fabulous babysitting skills for when you need them!! We love you!!!!
P.S. I don't know if I decided to use the pink font because I want the baby to be a girl or not! :) Hmmmm
